About Us

Situated at the end of Woodsides main street,(near the bakery), 45km east of Adelaide in South Australias Adelaide Hills, you will find a quilters Aladdins Cave. Upon entering youll find many quilts hanging, as well as many samples dotted around the store of patterns, kits etc. The store is decorated with a country theme, with rustic wood furniture, boxes and baskets, pip berries and candles.

Owner, Jane Greens passion for this craft began in 1983 and has been patchwork and quilting ever since.
Jane and her best friend, Annette Schultz opened The Patchwork Apple in 1994 in a room at Janes family home. Four years later, the girls moved to a place-of-their-own in a 100 year old bungalow, just up the road. Sadly Annette passed away in 2000.
Jane is now the sole trader and very often misses her off-sider but has now managed to carry on and build the business to something, Annette would have dreamed about.
Over the Easter of 2005, Jane moved on after 11 years in Lenswood, to Woodside (only 8kms away). Then only a year later on 8th March 2006 moved again, up the street to a better location. With a country theme throughout, the store boasts a range of 2000 bolts of fabric. Including a large range of flannels and plaids and collections from Moda, Benartex, Prints Charming, Free Spirit, Marcus Bros.,Michael Miller, Maywood Studios and Northcott, to name a few of their favourites.
We pride ourselves on friendly service and do our best in obtaining customers needs. We insist on customers browsing, to take in the atmosphere and warmth of patchwork and quilting, plus there is so much for the eye to see!
An abundance of patterns are always available from Aussie designers like Rosalie Quinlan, Hugs n Kisses, Cinderberry Stitches, Leanne\'s House, Red Brolly, The Birdhouse, Hatched & Patched and Melly and Me as well as US patterns from Amy Butler, Bareroots, Blackbird Designs, Art to Heart, with stitchery and bag patterns high on the list.
Books, notions, buttons and country gifts, batting, wool and wool felt. New products such as chenille, Minkee Blankee, vinyl-coated fabric or oil cloth, twill, prairie cloth are becoming a popular alternative.
There is everything the quilter desires including an increasing selection of Block of the Month programs.

Jane and her husband, Kym have 3 daughters, Jessica, Olivia and Sarah and live on their 5th. generation cherry and apple orchard in Lenswood.
The girls often help out and all know how to run the shop, when Jane has shows or exhibitions to attend, with the Mobile shop.
Its wonderful having the girls to help, and Im sure Annette is there guiding us all along..
